The Los Angeles to Las Vegas move is a 270-mile desert corridor, almost entirely on I-15 North through the Mojave Desert and Cajon Pass. This is one of the most popular short long-distance routes in the western United States, driven by the constant flow of residents between Southern California and Nevada. The drive takes about 4 hours under normal conditions but can stretch to 5-6 hours on Friday afternoons when weekend traffic clogs the interstate through Barstow. The route climbs through the Cajon Pass (elevation 4,200 ft) before descending into the desert basin leading to Las Vegas.
